To celebrate the International Yoga Day2022 , Dr. Srinivas conducted an awareness and practice guidance session to intrested Intel employees , on the topic " Cognitive Health & Yoga".
Celebrated the International Yoga Day 2022 with 75 IT professionals with awarenss and practice guidance session.
Brief about Session:- While cognition refers to the process of acquiring information including perception, intuition and reasoning, our cognitive health plays critical role in thinking, remembering, language and learning. With environment and lifestyle risk factors are on the high rise, our cognitive health is challenged like never before, making us more vulnerable to risk factors like stroke, diabetes etc., along with exposure to Alzheimer’s diseases (AD) and dementia, starting in middle age. This demands us to stay alert and cognitively fit and increase our cognitive reserves. Yoga, the body-mind science from the ancient India ensures fitness and wellbeing, to its regular practitioners (sadhakas) at body, breath, psychological, emotional, intellectual and spiritual levels, from ages. There is evolving clinical research evidence that yoga-based practices may be employed as an adjunctive care for prevention, managing as well as recovery from many chronic diseases including AD , while more robust findings are in progress. It is also found that even for newly evolving cognitive functional therapy, yoga plays critical role. In this awareness session, topics covered were cognitive health and its risk factors; Overview on Yoga and its relevance to contemporary times; Clinical researching findings on yoga for cognitive health as well as for Cognitive functional therapy . We ended the session with few Yoga asanas recommendations ( basic and advanced) which can potentially boost our cognitive health and Cognitive reserves. Good cognitive health assists us in clear decision -making and planning along with keep us alert and socially involved.
This was an excellent session by Dr Srinivas at our work location. I learnt a lot from this session and would be helpful to balance work and outside life.
