Awareness session at Vivekananda Kendra, Hyderabad


                      Kaushalam, a Human Excellence center run by  Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari organized a one day stress management workshop  at   its Hyderabad center on 26th Feb 2017.  This workshop aimed at training the participants about awareness on stress, its impacts on health /well-being as well as principles underlying  yoga based methods to address this global problem effectively. Work shop contained awareness sessions followed by practice sessions to provide comprehensive understanding about stress management to the participants. 

 Dr. Pammi Sesha Srinivas, presented  the  sessions on  stress awareness in general and work related stress awareness in particular, as part of this workshop. His awareness sessions included: Research details about work related stress costs to the organisations/ workers; Body/Mind response to stressful situations encountered; Role of HPA ( Hypothalamic–Pituitary–Adrenal ) axis in providing flight/fight response; Details about possible distress caused diseases; Understanding about Body layers as per ancient Indian wisdom; Upanishads based principles that effectively work to tackle stress;  Understanding of yoga based methods to tackle stress. 

Sri Gandikota Srinivas took the lead on practice sessions which included body postures as well as relaxing techniques. He patiently provided guidance to the participants to effectively participate in the practice sessions.  Sri Anil  took  session on group dynamics for the participants. This workshop was very well received by the participants. Participants had a great day of learning from the workshop with some of the participants running their own yoga studios.
